USATF Mid-Atlantic Association
Venue for 2012 Region 2 Junior Olympic Championships
The USATF Mid-Atlantic Association will host the Region 2 Junior Olympic Track and Field Championship to be held on July 5-8, 2012. As the Youth Committee, which has responsibility for organizing this championship meet, awaits a commitment from one of two potential venues, we believe it prudent to identify alternative venues for the meet.
The venue requirements are rigorous. They are as follows:
- Eight-lane track with inner rim
- Steeplechase
- Two long jump pits
- Two high jump pits
- Hammer cage
- 80 hurdles in good working condition
- Fully automatic timing capacity
- Secure clerking area
- PA system
- Security
- Shelter tents and water at each field event, clerking and finish line
- Radios for communication between venues
- Trainers and/or medical personnel on-site
Some of the more challenging physical requirements for the site include the availability of two long jump and high jump pits and a hammer cage.
We are sending out this solicitation to learn of additional sites which may meet these physical requirements and of their availability for July 5-8, 2012.
If you are aware of a facility that meets these requirements, we would be interested in knowing whether that facility would be available on these dates.
The Youth Committee leadership would be happy to engage in a conversation with the facility management to explore the possibility of utilizing the site.
