Popular All-Comers Series Returns to Germantown Academy
Germantown Academy will conduct All-Comers Track & Field Meets on Tuesday evenings June 26, July 10 and July 24 at their newly constructed athletic complex in Fort Washington, PA. All ages are welcome. For more information, click here.
Still Alive After Five!
This summer's Greater Philadelphia Runners Pentathlon will take place on August 12 at Germantown Academy's newly constructed athletic complex in Fort Washington, PA. New for 2012 will be a separate Team Competition. For more information: Individual Competition / Team Competition.
Outdoor Championships Set for June 9
The 2012 USATF Mid-Atlantic Open/Masters Outdoor Championships will be held on Saturday, June 9, at Widener University in Chester, PA. The Open division is for men and women aged 14-29, and the Masters division is for athletes 30 and older. Participants must be USATF members. The entry form and information including registration fees, the schedule of events and directions is posted here.
Lorraine Jasper Is World Champion
Congratulations to Lorraine Jasper of Mid-Atlantic and the Athena Track Club for winning the 800 meters in the women's 50-54 age division at the World Masters Indoor Championships in Jyväskylä, Finland! Lorraine's time was 2:28.31. She also won the silver medal in the 1,500 meters, with a time of 5:02.65. Complete results for the championships are posted here. GPTC M40 Team Places 2nd in National 5K
The team, led by Nick Berra and Kevin Forde, was one of three men's squads representing Greater Philadelphia Track Club that competed in the Syracuse Festival of Races, which also acted as the 2011 USATF Masters 5K Road National Championship. Read more.
World Record Set at Throw-a-Thon
Oneithea "Neni" Lewis of Oakland Gardens, N.Y., threw the hammer 55.86 meters, eclipsing by almost 16 inches her own world record for women aged 50-54, at the Throw-a-Thon at Albright College. To read more, click here. For complete results, click here.
Outdoor Championship Results Posted
The complete results of the 2011 USATF Mid-Atlantic Association Outdoor Track and Field Championships are now posted here. The championships were held June 11-12 at Widener University in Chester, Pa.
TNT Women Are National Champions
The TNT International Racing Club won the women's division at the 2011 USA Masters Indoor Track and Field Championships in March, and the men came third -- giving the Lincoln University-based club second place overall. Read story.
TNT Member Sets Triple Jump Record
MARCH 27, 2011: Jill Cypress-Turner, a 35-year-old athlete with the TNT International Racing Club, set a pending national record in the triple jump for her age group at the 2011 Mid-Atlantic Open and Masters Indoor Championships at the University of Delaware. The championships also featured best-of-year times in the 800 meters and sprints. Read story.
